Starcraft 2 Builds Overview

In Blizzard's Starcraft 2, build orders play an important role in this game. The build orders are the numbers that you see along with the structures and units in front of them. New players can sometimes get confused with them, but you don’t have to worry, this simple starcraft 2 builds guide can help you understand those numbers and how you can use it to win and climb up the ladder.

Build orders are in the heart of every effective strategy in starcraft 2, so understanding this is vital. They play a big role in managing economy, micro, macro and unit timings. This can help you decide whether your strategy is to cheese, rush, harass or macro. Whatever kind of enemy your scout discovered, you can be assured of a win by modifying your plan and strategy effectively.

Starcraft 2 Builds
6 Spawning Pool
5 Drone
6 Drone
7 3x2 Zerglings
10 Overlord
10+ Zerglings

You start with 6 workers in starcraft 2. In the given build order for zerg, it tells you not to build any more Drones until you have a Spawning Pool because it will make your supply to 7. Keep in mind that in Zerg, a drone is required to morph in order for you to create or build something. So by doing this, your supply would go to 5. So you need to make drones at 5 and 6 supply. You should have a spawning pool at supply 7 and then your 3 larvas should have been morphed into zerglings by this time. 2 Zerglings are spawned in each larva (3x2 Zerglings). You should have reached the 10/10 supply cap after this. Thus your next move is to build an Overlord. This 6 pool build is referred to as an “all in” plan. Your goal is to keep on building Zerglings after supply 10.

This is just one of the many starcraft 2 builds that you can master and apply in your game. You can find out more about the different, starcraft 2 terran builds, protoss builds and zerg builds on this guide.
